Vuollerims Friskola in England

Between 23/2 and 2/4 2012 8th and 9th grade from Vuollerims Friskola will be studying in England, living near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. It’s about improving language skills and transforming theoretical studies - for instance geography, history and culture - into real personal knowledge.

Henrik Nielsen, born in Denmark, educated teacher. School experiences as a student and teacher from Denmark, USA, Greenland and Sweden – and from school visits in France, Norway and England. Since the start of Vuollerims Friskola in 2010 I have been teaching social science, nature science, music, art, woodshop and English. I am interested in school developing and school profile, group- and project work. When I was hired in 2010, I brought with me to Vuollerims Friskola the idea to organize a work experience trip to England for the older pupils. These thoughts about travel activity also have a Nordic dimension, which I hope will become reality. Already in the school's second year of practice, it has been possible to plan and implement the journey to England. The pupils have worked throughout the school year to raise money for the journey and others have helped. School Board, parents and the local community has backed the project.
